Set goals!

"If you don't know where you're going, any road'll take you there" was essentially a paraphrase of an exchange between Alice and the Cheshire Cat in Chapter 6 of Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland."

But you haven't chosen just "any" road.  You've chosen Shaklee 180.   Still, according to Yogi Berra, “If you don't know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else.”

Set a goal for your weight loss:

What weight do want to achieve?  (How many pounds do you want to lose?)

What size clothes do you want to fit?  (How many inches do you want to lose?)

If you're having trouble honing in on your goals, don't worry. Take a moment to ask yourself these questions. Your answers will help guide you in the process.

1.  What does losing weight mean to me?
2.  What are the rewards of losing weight?
3.  What do I hope to gain?
4.  What would happen if I don't lose weight?
5.  Am I being realistic?

Write these goals down.
Review them often.
Share them with someone who will support you.

Drink water!

Water is REALLY important – drink lots – here are two reasons why:

1 – as we get older, our sense of thirst diminishes.   Sometimes when we think we are hungry, we are really just thirsty.   If you feel hungry, start with a full glass of water – you may find that it holds you over – and increasing the amount of water you drink will  just make you feel better overall.

2 – part of the “secret” to Shaklee 180 smoothees and meal-bars is the fiber – both soluble and insoluble fiber.   Fat is always “re-cycling” in our body – the body sloughs it off and it gets into the intestinal tract, and then it gets re-absorbed.   However, if there is a good amount of fiber in our diet, the fiber picks up the fat, and when we drink enough water, it actually gets flushed out of our system.   Shaklee 180 smoothees actually increase that process, so drinking lots of water is very helpful in getting rid of the fat.

How much water should you drink?

Start with your body weight, then take 1/2 of that number.   (For example, if you weigh 150 lbs, then 1/2 of that would be 75.)   That is the number of ounces you should drink each day.  (75 ounces = approximately 9 glasses)

That's the number according to the experts!    Let's get real!   I think every adult should drink at least 48 ounces of water every day - that's six 8-oz glasses.   More would be better of course.

How can you do that?   Here's a way I keep track of it.   I fill three 16-ounce water bottles each night and put two on the counter in the kitchen.   I put one by my bed.   When I wake up each morning, I drink one bottle first thing in the morning.   The other two on the counter need to be finished before the day is over.....maybe some before I leave the house, some more at lunch, some right after coming home, the rest before bed....?   By putting it in the bottles, I know how much I need to get down before the day is done.
